Without your training, the outcome for the casualty might well have been different…

Just wanted to let you know that your First aid course that I attended was brilliant. The practical sessions were so useful.

As it turns out, I unexpectedly had to put them into practice on Monday when a lone climber took a bad fall and long run-out on ice without a helmet in a remote location in the Cairngorms. It was full on with hand and head bandages being deployed and a suspected fractured femur, the casualty showing signs of shock and the onset of hypothermia. There was no mobile phone signal in the location and was about 2 hours before a paramedic arrived in Rescue 151. The casualty is now thankfully recovering in hospital. Without having practised the various training sessions in your recent course, the outcome for the casualty might well have been quite different.
